What the study actually found

128 participants with chronic heel pain from calcaneal spur were randomised to individualised homeopathy (n = 64) or an identical placebo (n = 64) for 6 months, with both groups getting standard advice like foot exercises and contrast baths. The primary outcome was change in pain on a 100-mm VAS, and the secondary outcome was function on the Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS). Assessments were done at baseline, 3 and 6 months, using intention-to-treat analysis with a mixed-effects repeated-measures model. At 6 months the homeopathy group had a greater pain reduction than placebo (mean difference −33.28 mm; 95% CI −44.3 to −22.2; p < 0.001) and greater functional improvement on LEFS (mean difference 13.78; 95% CI 9.1–18.4; p < 0.001), with no serious adverse events reported.
